How do Models keep their arms smooth?
Author: Rebecca Gaspert
Well, how do models make it look so smooth? Do they do laser surgery or something? No need for any expensive cosmetic procedures, here are some simple steps to having smooth, fit looking arms and avoid those unsightly bumps & dry, dull skin for under $50.
Sometimes these tiny bumps on the backs of your upper arms, can be tough to wipe out, there are several easy ways to reduce the appearance of flare-ups. A buildup of keratin (a protein that's also found in hair and nails) on the skin can collect in the openings of hair follicles. This creates patches of red or flesh colored bumps that give your arms a sandpapery texture.
Exfoliate the right way:
Dry body brushing with a plant bristle brush provides gentle yet effective exfoliation of the arms. Be mindful of which plant bristle body brush to choose. For sensitive skin, you should go for a fine fibre like Jute, and thicker healthy skin can opt for a tampico fibre. The correct plant bristle won’t scratch or irritate the skin. Never skin brush over inflamed skin e.g. open wounds, inflamed sores, sun burnt skin. Wash a new brush before use. If an allergic reaction appears stop brushing. A slight reddening of the skin (erythema) is normal, it is the blood circulation responding to the skin brushing. It is recommended not to brush on freshly shaved armpits, or arms, wait 12-24 hours after shaving depending on your sensitivity. Opt for one of our package offers if you don't have your dry skin brush already, or a care pack to help with dry skin conditions.
Steps to Dry Body Brushing your Arms.
Start on left arm:
* With palm facing up, brush in one sweeping direction from wrists to fingertips.
* Turn hand over and brush in-between fingers from left to right and back again.
* Brush from fingertips to wrist and continue up the arm to the shoulder, working from inner to mid and to outer arm, covering the entire area.
* Finish brush strokes over the armpit, keeping the brush still, apply gentle pressure in a circular clockwise direction, 7 times.
** Repeat on right arm
Treat your body with TLC
Since keeping skin well-hydrated reduces the appearance of bumps, avoid dryness by taking lukewarm showers (not hot water, it will dehydrate your skin and will make dry itchy skin worse) and quickly follow with a burst of cold water at the end of your shower. This will help to close the pores of the skin and keep any nasties out and moisture in. Towel dry and apply an organic body moisturizer, or oil, like our Organic Jojoba body oil.
Try to reduce the amount of time you cover your arms with tight fitting clothes, allow the skin to breathe daily. Participate in regular exercise each week to help tone your arms and drink plenty of water.
Your arms will be looking amazing in no time and you will be wearing sleeveless tops with confidence.
