Did you know that a prolonged hot shower without alternation with cool water (the type of shower most people take) is fatiguing and causes circulatory congestion? On the other hand, the properly performed Alternate Hot and Cold Shower exercises the circulatory system, nerves, endocrine glands and skin.
For best results of an Alternate Hot/Cold Shower you can use the following steps as a guide:
1. Conduct Bodecare’s Dry Body Brushing routine (details on how-to-guide can be requested)
2. Begin warm to hot shower for 2-3 minutes. Water should be at a comfortable temperature.
3. Follow with a cold shower for 15 seconds. Once again water should be at a comfortable temperature.
4. Repeat with hot and cold shower at 15 seconds each.
5. Towel dry
This can also be complemented with aromatherapy oils for specific benefits such as: detox, rehydrating skin, relaxing the mind or soothing tired muscles.
Lymphatic Drainage
Lymph is a very slow moving fluid whose function is to remove metabolic wastes and dead cells from our internal system and return it to the bloodstream. Through every day functions like breathing, exercise, blood circulation, the lymph is assisted in its ability to drain waste. Dry brushing stimulates the dense network of nerves that run just under the skin layer, which in-turn increase blood circulation and the function of the lymphatic system.
Toxins
Toxins are tucked away in all parts of our body tissue. Metabolic waste can be stored as mucus in the respiratory system, cholesterol in artery walls, stones in kidneys, form crystals around joints, and build up in muscles. If not removed the metabolic wastes become toxins. Body brushing lightly stimulates the nerves under the skin that connect to the lymphatic system, which assists in draining these toxins from the body .
Cellulite
Research from Dr Berkowsky, has shown that cellulite formation is related, in part, to local vein and lymph conjestion. Proper skin brushing can help to alleviate this condition.
